Sian Porter of the British Dietetic Association recently put a number of foods to the test to find out which “banished hunger for longest”.
Part of a Daily Mail investigation into how you can “Eat less, but still feel full”, Sian pitched Ador’s oat bar range against an egg, a Marks & Spencer Simply Fuller Longer Cheese and Mustard Sandwich, Belvita Breakfast Biscuits, porridge and white rye bread.
Even though it was hardly a fair fight, with all the challengers apart from Ador’s designed for a main meal, as opposed to a between-meal healthy snack, the oat bar actually did rather well.
Rated five out of 10, it outperformed both the M&S and Belvita offerings, with Sian commenting: “It would fill you up more than crisps or a biscuit. But it's no better than a bowl of wholegrain cereal or fruit.”
Of course, not Sian. Ador’s natural oat bars are designed as a healthy low calorie sweet treat to satisfy cravings between meals, rather than a meal substitute.
“Their natural ingredient Fabuless, which is made from palm oil, keeps you feeling full until your next main meal to prevent serial snacking,” explains Ador founder Franco Beer.
“As such they can help you control your weight and stick to your diet. However, we never designed them to replace a main meal like breakfast, so I’m pleasantly surprised at the results of Sian Porter’s test.”
